Barrancas del Cobre - Day 3

Friday morning, I met up with Victor, who was to be our guide for a trip to the canyon before we got on the train at 2:00. Gail and Murray were two fellow travelers with an itinerary nearly identical to ours - we spent a lot of time with them over the next few days.Unfortunately, Art was really feeling the effects of the change in altitude, so he begged off on this excursion and spent the morning in from of the fire.

Victor took us a a state park where there is a cable car that takes you out over the canyon.

The views were spectacular!

There were a few women selling baskets at the end of the cable car, including this girl with her baby sister.

The up side to the cloudy and sprinkly conditions that day was a rainbow that stretched all the way across the canyon:

From there, we drove a couple of miles to Divisadero, which, before the cable car was constructed in 2009, used to be the best place to get a view of the canyon:

We left Divisidero at about noon to go back to the hotel and pack for the short trip to Creel, which would be our last stop in the canyon.
